John Bailey is a 2007 3B/RHP with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Brownsboro AL, who attends Huntsville HS. He has a very nice athletic body with long limbs and plenty of room to add strength. Bailey ran the 60 in 7.42 and threw a strong 84 mph during infield drills. He has very smooth defensive actions at third base and plays under control and with confidence. Bailey took his time making throws and used his arm strength well. He should continue to be a very good defensive third baseman as the game speeds up. Offensively, Bailey has a lean back load and a long, smooth swing. When he keeps his hands up he shows very good pull power and bat speed, although he will reach and get long to the ball on occasion. Bailey has some lift in his swing and projects power. Bailey also took a turn on the mound and looked good. He threw steadily at 84-86 mph with very good sinking action. Bailey kept his fastball low and pitched aggressively with his fastball. He also showed a 74 mph curveball and 77 mph change up. Overall, everything Bailey did on the field was athletic and at the college level. No single tool stood out but he did just about everything well and he projects a bit. Bailey is also a very good student.
