Daniel Camarena is a 2011 1B/OF/LHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Bonita, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Strong mature build. Top level 2-way prospect. Has been primary LHP but may have higher ceiling as a hitter. 6.92 runner, open to straight hitting stance, well balanced, aggressive hitter, very strong and quick hands, pull approach with plus power potential. Smooth defensive actions at 1B, can also play outfield. Full back turn delivery on the mound, lands a bit closed, extended smooth arm action, varies FB velocity/movement/location, tops at 91 mph and will sink it at 83-84 as well, pitches off a big curveball with plus command, very nice feel for a change up. Good student, verbal commitment to San Diego. Selected for the Aflac All-American team.

Daniel Camarena is a 2011 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Bonita, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic high school. Camareno is an exceptional lefty in the 2011 class. In LA he showed a upper 80s fastball with lots of running and sometimes sinking action. His curveball looked very good at 73 mph. His change was also a good pitch at 78 mph. It actually looked as if he was throwing a forkball at times and if so it was a big dropper. Camareno is a good student and should be heavily recruited by top college programs. He's going to be fun to follow for the next couple years.

Daniel Camarena is a 2011 LHP/OF with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Bonita, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic. Camarena has a medium sized frame with a good build. He has some present strength with room to fill. Camarena pitches from a 3/4 slot with a long arm action. He has some arm speed and has a loose arm. Camarena is inline at balance point and lands across his body quite a bit. He pitches with some effort and has projectable velocity. Camarena throws a good straight change and a 1/7 breaking ball. At the plate, Camarena starts with an open stance and uses a knee lift trigger to start his swing. He throws his hands to the baseball and makes consistent solid barrell contact. Camarena maintains good balance in his swing and gets good extension. Defensively, Camarena is smooth to the ball in the outfield with good hands. He makes accurate online throws with carry. Camarena is a good young prospect and a very good student.
