Logan Hildebrandt is a 2006 OF from Antioch HS, residing in Antioch, CA, with a 6'2", 175 lb. frame. He has a long, strong, lively, and athletic build, a baseball body. Hildebrandt is an aggressive player and there is no doubt that he has a motor that works. He hits from a square stance and has excellent bat speed with a flat bat path that whips through the zone. He gets to pullside easily and can currently reach the fences on the pull side. Hildebrandt can handle velocity and with good plate coverage, he has present day gap power. His future power potential is very good. In the outfield Hildebrandt has a strong arm that will work in right field. The ball has good rotation out of his hand and though he is not a pitcher, that arm and rotation on the ball might someday translate to the mound. He makes accurate, low arc, one hop throws with good extension. Hildebrandt shows good footwork, soft hands, and goes into the gaps well. Going toward the right field line he showed excellent athleticism and body control with a backside turn and accurate throw into second base, turning a sure double into a close play. Hildebrandt's natural abilities are very strong. The more he plays the better he will get, which is true of most young players, but in his case, it is exciting. Because he needs polish, it is likely that Hildebrandt goes the JC route, possibly as a draft and follow. If he does attend a JC, he should be closely followed.
