2018 Sunshine Southeast Showcase
Joshua Darden is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Logansport, LA who attends Logansport. Medium frame, looks the part with a lean and projectable frame. Ran a 7.29 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, took reps in the infield with solid actions, would like to see field more out front getting glove down sooner, quick release, short arm action with average arm strength up to 80 mph across the diamond. Also pitched at the showcase, long arm action up to an over the top arm slot, could get more from lower half as he drives off the rubber, fastball topped out at 79 mph, curveball showed little depth with break out of hand, was able to throw CB for strikes consistently to help keep hitters off balance, filled up the zone and forced contact, with some fine mechanical tuning he could really improve on the mound. Righthanded hitter, slightly open stance, low hand set then drops hands at load, tends to cast around baseball, could work on letting the ball travel and driving it where it is pitched, patient approach at the plate, showed potential pop late during batting practice round that showed up some in game. Good student.
