Ryo Takaoka is a 2017 LHP with a 5-9 178 lb. frame from Kusatsu, SH who attends Otani. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth paced, side step delivery to large leg kick. Utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate with on line direction through finish. High energy delivery from a three-quarters arm slot. Created occasional sinking action with a fastball that sat in the upper 60's to low 70's, topped at 71 mph. Flashed a curveball and slider combination, each had proper spin with occasional late depth down in the zone. Flashed a changeup with some fading action in the mid 60's as well. Consistently filled the strike zone with each pitched with the ability to spot up on the edges at times. Also has a good presence with composure while on the mound with a knowledge for pitching.
