Patrick Schuster is a 2009 LHP with a 6'3'', 173 lb. frame from Holiday, FL who attends J W Mitchell HS. Schuster is an lean tall super projectable LHP who already can reach 90mph easily. He uses a deceptive slinging low 3/4 arm angle that makes his fastball extra lively. Shows a good breaking ball with sweeping bite that he commands well. His change has very good life and he locates it well. Patrick shows uncanny pitchability and he is not the guy you want to hit off of. He still projects large and it will be interesting to see where he is next spring. Top 2009 follow, one of the top lefties in the country and maybe the hardest to hit off of. He is also a very good student.

Whippy arm, low 3/4's release, cross body deceptive delivery, sometimes drops to sidearm, low effort. FB 86-88 with plus life, sharp deep slider overmatches LHH's, feel for change. Will be really nasty with more velo. Very good student. He was named to the top prospect team at this event.

Patrick Schuster is a 2009 LHP with a 6'2'', 163 lb. frame from Holiday FL, who attends Mitchell HS. He has a athletic and projectable body with good length. Schuster was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Schuster has very good present stuff for a 2009 prospect. His fastball was steady at 84-86 mph and we've heard 88 mph in the past. He has very good arm speed and good loseness and projects well for future velocity gains. His fastbal had good running life from a low 3/4's release point. Schuster's curveball was 71 mph and had nasty, sharp break at times. His change up also showed quality, with nice movement and deception. The stuff is there and should get better. The question with Schuster will be his mechanics. He has a high effort, multi-part, cross body delivery that puts plenty of stress on his arm. It doesn't seem to effect his command, as he threw all three pitches where he wanted to, but it does raise durability concerns. The raw talent is there for a high ceiling pitching prospect. Schuster is also a very good student.
