2015 Mid Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Joe Sfreddo is a 2016 LHP with a 6-6 175 lb. frame from Dumfries, VA who attends Saint John Paul The Great High School. Very long and lean build, plenty of room to fill out and add strength to frame. Short and compact arm action to a 3/4 arm slot. Has simple leg raise delivery with a full over the head delivery. Delivery is very similar to Clayton Kershaw. Stays tall on the backside, hides ball well and stays online with delivery. Fastball shows cutting action down and zone, kept hitters off balance well with fastball/curveball mix. Got a lot of soft end of barrel contact. Threw two different types of curveballs, a softer spinning 12/6 that he threw for strikes early in count and a 1/7 shape curveball that has tight spin and good depth. Pitched to contact. Hit from a square stance, line drive swing plane with good extension. Let ball get deep into stance, had feel for barrel.
