2015 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Collin Mitchell is a 2016 OF/LHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Northborough, MA who attends Algonquin HS. Large, athletic build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out with additional strength. Has quick-twitch muscle, ran a 6.68 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well on feet to the ball, fields the ball out front full arm action through the back and gets on top of higher slot release, occasionally under throws, smooth transfer out of glove. Also pitched, full arm circle in the back coming to an extended three-quarter release. Slight hip turn at top of delivery, gets on top of fastball to generate some downhill plane, topped out at 81 mph, mostly true in life. Turned over changeup well at 74 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set. Small leg lift trigger, stays short to ball and gets the barrel to it nicely. Upper body swing, creates some extension out front while showing a nice handle of the barrel head. Has the ability and comfort to square ball to opposite field while staying balanced. Projects well with continued incorporation of lower half into swing.
