William Koehler is a 2019 1B/LHP with a 5-8 180 lb. frame from Gowen, MI who attends Greenville HS. Medium, broad shouldered build with present strength to frame and ability to add additional strength moving forward. Primary first baseman, takes short steps coming off the bag, compact arm action coming through the back, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy across the diamond, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, drop and drive delivery with a short arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 69 mph and showed short running life to arm side and occasional cut action. Mostly upper body at release and will continue to develop with lower half incorporation, flashed a curveball with 2-8 shape and short depth. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an upright and closed stance and uses a front knee raise for timing. Moving parts to load, full swing coming through the zone, line drive swing plane with a pull side approach. Hits to pull side with comfort and line drive contact off the barrel when squared. Very good student.
