Kyle O'Neill is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from West Islip, NY who attends West Islip HS. O'Neill has a medium sized frame with a lean build. Defensively he moves to the ball well on the infield and showed developing infield actions. O'Neill throws from a lower release ad has some arm strength up to 80 MPH. He showed developing footwork with developing transfers. At the plate, O'Neill starts with a wide stance and a high hand set. He has busy hands pre-swing and stays short to the baseball. O'Neill has quick hands and showed good barrel skills making solid line drive contact in his BP round. There's more pop in there with increased use of his backside in his swing. O'Neill pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm action. He hides the ball well and tends to fly open with his glove side. O'Neill has a quick hip rotation and good direction to the plate with his lower half. He throws an 11/5 curveball with solid shape and some bite. Good student.
