Stephen Pim is a 2016 1B/ with a 5-10 152 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley. Medium athletic frame with present strength. Body projects for added strength. At the plate shows a spread stance and tends to load early. Short, direct line drive path with some natural loft to contact. Stiff swings with a pull side approach. Extends through the baseball well when on time with balance throughout. Shows some barrel control, swing shows projection with future fluidity. Defensively worked out at 1B. Quick footwork while surrounding baseball and setting up to receive throws around the bag. Long overtop arm slot across, topped at 71 mph. Shows some range to both sides as well. Also pitched showing a long arm action from a 3/4 slot. Tends to fall to 3B side, yet creates good extension out front on offering. Fastball has some arm side run in the low 70's. Curveball has soft 1/7 shape with varying depth. Inconsistent with release point on curveball, topped at 61 mph. Flashed a change up at 65 mph with good arm side tumbling action. Good student as well.
