Philip Miclat is a 2009 MIF with a 5'7'', 130 lb. frame from Concord, NC, who attends West Rowan HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Miclat is a short and athletic player with good quickness. Defensively he has plus actions with very soft and quick hands, and he has good range because of his quick feet. He is active in the field and has great instincts and anticipation. His arm is currently the only thing keeping him from being a true shortstop, but he has time. He has top defensive tools that will play at the next level. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who keeps his hands close to his body. He has an inside out line drive swing and has the ability to hit to all fields. Miclat has solid bat speed with quick hands and he stays inside the ball well. Projects to be a contact hitter who will put the ball in play and make things happen. Great upside to his game and he is a must follow. Miclat is also an excellent student.
