Christian Griffiths is a 2008 C/OF with a 6'2'', 170 lb. frame from Apple Valley CA, who attends Granite Hills HS. Selected as a Top Prospect for this event, Griffiths has a lot to offer, for both major D1 programs and as a professional prospect. He has a lean body with wiry strength and good agility. Griffiths shows ability as both a catcher and as a corner outfielder and his bat looks like an asset at either position, though it stands out more as a catcher. He swings the bat well from both sides, with bat speed and a quiet approach on both sides. His power potential looks stronger as a right-handed hitter. From the left side he showed a line drive, whole-field stroke and line drive/gap power. He has good bat control and should be able to hit for average and some power. Griffiths is still developing feel as a catcher, but he possesses all he will need to be a plus defensive catcher. He is athletic and agile, with a plus arm and quick feet. His transfer is very good as well. Griffiths threw a 1.93 in game situations, so his tools transfer to game action, rare for high school catchers. His receiving skills are still developing, as are his blocking skills. It is more of a technique issue rather than ability. When in right field Griffiths moved like he was very comfortable there, approaching the ball easily and getting of big (91 mph), low tracking throws on line to the bag. He would rack up the assists as an outfielder. Griffiths is an exceptional student and very talented player. He likely will be able to pick and choose where he wants to go to college and will also draw draft interest in his senior year.

Christian Griffiths is a 2008 switch-hitting catcher/outfielder from Granite Hills HS, residing in Apple Valley, CA. He has a 6'2" 165 lb. frame with a long, lanky, wiry strong body that has plenty of room to fill out. Griffiths is a talented player, in either the outfield or behind the plate and especially so as a hitter. His bat is lively from both sides of the plate and he has very quick hands. He displayed present day pullside power from both sides, with more currently present from the right side. As he gets stronger, his power will play as above average. Griffiths' swing is short and pretty direct to the ball, particularly from the right side, which is his more advanced side at this point. His swing path is good from both sides and when it is all said and done, he should be able to switch-hit for the remainder of his career, and do so with some power from both sides (more from the right). Defensively Griffiths possesses a quick arm at either position. He is more polished in the outfield where he approaches the ball athletically and under control and his arm plays well. Behind the plate he shows that he does have good hands and his agility/athleticism works for him in setting a low target and blocking. As switch-hitting catcher he has a chance to develop into a very high end D1 prospect who has some pro potential.

Christian Griffiths is a 2008 OF/C from Granite Hills HS, residing in Apple Valley, CA, with a 6'1" 160 lb. frame. Griffiths was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. He has a long and athletic build, with some physical projectability. Griffiths is a switch-hitter. From the right side he hits from a square stance and in terms of his approach to hitting, he has an aggressive nature. He has a no-stride lower half approach, helping him to maintain good balance during his swing. Griffiths has good bat speed and is short to the ball. He has excellent hands and has some projectable power potential for the college level. From the left side Griffiths hits from a slightly closed stance and has an aggressive hand load. Just like from the right side, Griffiths has a no-stride lower half approach. He is a pull hitter from the left side and tends to work around the ball, indicating that his lower half is late to trigger. He is a more advanced hitter from the right side but does flash some ability from the left. From the outfield Griffiths showed a quick arm with a crow hop set-up for making throws. He was an accurate thrower with some carry and good body control. From behind the plate the ball exited Griffiths' hand well; his throws ranged from 2.11-2.20 to second base and he was accurate. As an '08 grad he is a D1 follow as a switch-hitting catcher with good hitting ability from the right side and potential from the left.
