Charlie Cochran is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-2 225 lb. frame from Flowery Branch, GA who attends West Hall HS. Extra large and strong build. Hides the ball well in back, deep arm takeaway behind his body, high 3/4's arm slot creates good angle to the plate and can get the ball to the bottom of the zone, doesn't get rotated back on line at times and can't get the ball glove side at times. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, good heaviness and life down in the zone, was able to elevate his fastball over barrels at times and get swing/miss, has some deception and the ball gets on hitters quickly. Flashed a short 1/7 curveball with tight spin and some depth when he gets good direction to the plate. Key will be developing consistency in his mechanics and direction. Left handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a slight crouch, rotational swing, swings hard and has some strength when timed. Good student.
