2006 California Underclass
Cameron Christian is a 2007 OF/LHP/1B from Auburn HS, residing in Auburn, WA, with a 6'0" 160 lb. frame. Christian was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. He has a wiry and athletic body and a good baseball build with room yet to fill out. At the plate he starts with a high back elbow. With his swing underway he displayed ok balance while taking an aggressive swing. Christian sprays the ball around the field and off his bat he creates some spin. In time that spin off the bat will turn into carry and power. He is an interesting looking hitter and should have it all come together by the end of the summer. On defense he showed a good approach to the ball and a good release of the ball. His body control is good and he stayed on-line to the plate when he threw the ball, resulting in throws that stay on-line. Christian is a good fielder and solid thrower. On the mound he pitched from a 3/4 slot and his arm works. He had fair to solid mechanics and threw strikes. Christian got some arm side run on his 82-83 mph FB. His best pitch was a 1/7 shaped CB, thrown in the 67-69 mph range. That pitch had at times, sharp action. He flashed a few very good breakers to suggest an even better one down the road. Consider him a strong D1 prospect, possibly as a two-way prospect for some schools..
