Tommy Winegardner is a 2009 SS/P with a 5'10", 175 lb frame from St Leonard, MD who attends Riverdale Baptist. Named to Top Prospect Team. Tommy is a very talented two-way player that has been a known commodity for a few years. He is a switch-hitter that looks a little better from the left side at this point. From the left side he has a smooth leveraged swing that produces ver solid bat speed. The ball really jumps off his bat well and he projects to be a highest level hitter in the future. From the right side Tommy has a balanced polished approach and shows the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field. He will tend to sweep under the ball some and needs to make sure he keeps his swing plane level. In the field Tommy shows defensive tools that could project at any level. He is a smooth player with very soft hands and great instincts. Tommy has great body control and shows off a very strong arm. On the mound Tommy comes right after hitters with an assortment of plus pitches. He has a short quick arm action and flashes a very tight 12 to 6 curveball as well as a good change-up with nice depth. Tommy is a great student that will be a highest-level college prospect and could attract interest from pro scouts this spring.

Tommy Winegardner is a 2009 MIF/RHP from Riverdale Baptist HS in St. Leonard, MO with a 5'10", 175 lb. frame. Tommy has an athletic build and is one of the top players in the class of 2009. At the plate Tommy shows very solid hitting tools and just needs to make some adjustments in his approach. He is a switch-hitter with good bat speed from both sides of the plate and can really turn on the ball well. Defensively Tommy was extremely impressive showing off top-notch arm strength. (88) He has very polished actions with good hands and could play at the highest college level right now. On the mound Tommy has a clean arm action with good extension out front. His delivery is clean and polished and he is able to really locate his fastball well. At this point Tommy overmatches hitters with his fastball and doesn't use his off-speed pitches all that much. Tommy is a highest-level two-way player that could see a lot of draft attention during his senior year.

Tommy Winegardner is a 2009 MIF/P from Riverdale Baptist HS in St. Leonard, MD, with a 5'9'', 165 lb. frame. He has high, very strong hips with above average overall strength for his age. Winegardner has outstanding arm strength for his age, which shows both in the and on the mound. He threw 86 mph across the infield in drills with on line accuracy and a clean arm stroke. His defensive actions are solid and as long as he doesn't get to much stronger and thicker and lose flexability, Winegardner can stay in the middle infield for a long time. On the mound, Winegardner showed the same 86 mph arm strength on his fastball with good life. Winegardner's mechanics are solid and his plus athleticism gives him good balance and body control on the mound. His change up at 73 mph was his best secondary pitch with good arm speed and he also threw a 64 mph curveball that's in the developing stages. Back to the position player department, Winegardner is a 7.23 runner with good quick actions. He's a switch-hitter at the plate who relies on his very strong hands and body to generate very good bat speed. He hits from a still start with a limited load and rhythm to the ball. His swing plane and balance is better from the right side and he makes better contact to all fields. Winegardner tends to collapse his back side hitting left handed. Winegardner overpowers the ball both ways and the ball jumps. You can see a bit of stiffness when you see Winegardner hit that is a concern with a young player his age. Winegardner is also an excellent student. He's one of the premium talents in the 2009 class at this point and has big time tools.

Tommy Winegardner is a player we first saw at the Richmond, Virginia indoor showcase. He has continued to add strength and is a talented 2009. A switch hitting middle infielder from St. Leonard, Maryland with 7.61 sixty time. Tommy showed good pop in his bat and should continue to develop power. He has a simple approach from the left side but is better from the right side. From the right side he shows college bat speed and good balance. Tommy was smooth in the field with college arm strength and good glove actions. He showed 76 mph arm strength across the infield and solid range to both sides. Tommy also threw off the mound and shows good command. He showed 82 mph with his fastball, 68 mph with his curveball, and 70 mph with his change up. He should continue to develop keeping in mind he is only a 2009 grad. Tommy is a very good follow who was named to the Top Prospect game and is an excellent student as well with a 4.0 gpa.

Tommy Winegardner is a very athletic 2009 SS/RHP from St. Leonard, MD, with a 5'7", 150 lb. frame. Tommy is one of the top young players we have seen, and is exciting to watch. With advanced muscle tone and very athletic actions, he plays like an upper classman. You will be hearing a lot from him over the next few years. He is a potential top level type player. He ran a 5.28 forty, and has exceptional overall athletic ability. He is a switch hitter who can swing it from both sides of the plate. He has a little more power from the left side. Tommy shows very strong hands and balance in his swing from both sides as well. He has an advanced hitting approach with college power projection. In the infield, Tommy showed outstanding tools. He has very strong arm, 75 mph, and gets into great position when fielding. He has very good directional feet and works through the ball well. Tommy is also a secondary pitcher with a 79 mph fastball, a 67 mph curveball, and a 69 mph change up. With his profile type body, his delivery is very clean and polished. He knows how to pitch and can run the fastball to either side of the plate, and uses a two and four seamer with good command. His curveball has late darting action, and his change up has college level life. Tommy is a very young, and very talented, two way prospect.
