Tyler Johnson is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Midlothian, VA who attends Trinity Episcopal School. Tall lean athletic build, very projectable body, good pitcher's build. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, long loose arm action, good extension out front, long in back. Has a slight wrap early in the backside of his arm action but works through it easily with quick loose arm. Offline to 1B side of the rubber, better direction should add velocity to fastball in addition to physical projection. Maintains arm speed well on changeup, changeup is plus at times but lacks consistency at this point. Curveball flashes bite and throws it for strikes. Throws a lot of strikes, has an idea how to pitch. Has some flaws but when he cleans them up he has a chance to become a very high level prospect at the next level, impressive raw tools. Solid hitter and OF as well but upside is on the mound. Very good student. Verbal to South Carolina.
