1B Ryan Schweikert: Schweikert is a big and strong 6-4, 220 lb left handed hitting first baseman from Wisconsin. He’s always shown us good raw power in batting practice and did so again at the Showcase, consistently pulling the ball hard. Schweikert does tend to step out and hit around the ball and this habit magnifies itself in games, which takes away from his bat speed and power potential. Schweikert is agile and quick around the first base bag and has good hands and playable arm strength.

Schweikert has one of the most impressive physiques of any high school prospect in the country and at 6-4, 215 lb and all muscle, he’s one of the strongest, too. Schweikert has the strength and leverage to be a great power hitter but hasn’t consistently shown it yet. He has good bat speed but never gets his hands extended through the ball and cuts himself off severely out front. Watch out if he ever learns to get those arms extended. Schweikert is a good athlete for his size and is a pretty mobile and sure handed first baseman and is capable of making the spectacular play on occasion. Ryan could develop into a high pick coming out of college. Scouts will look at him this spring as well.

We've been following big Schweikert for quite some time. He's a big 6'5/220 powerful lhh 1st baseman from Wisconsin. He and Beranek give the state of Wisconsin perhaps the best tandom of 1st baseman in the "04" class. For sure the biggest and strongest. We've seen Schweikert hit balls as hard as anyone on the country. He has hit line drives to the shortstop that cause quick defensive reactions. Obviously he can and will hit monster homeruns, but his swing is more condusive to hitting hard line drives to all fields right now. He's also very good around the bag at 1B. Definitely a draft prospect and most any college would want him in the middle of their lineup. He will be followed closely!

Big strong 1B/OF/P with a great body. Threw 82 from the mound with a nice changeup. Runs OK and athletic for his size. Very good defensive 1B. His major strength is with the bat. Big time power potential. He takes a healthy man sized cut. He stays inside the ball and shows some loft and back spin. Watch him closely, he's very interesting.

A top "04" prospect. Big and strong with good arm. More importantly, this kid can really swing the bat. He's going to hit for both average and power. It wouldn't surprise us if he became one of the top power prospects for "04"
