Sam Shields is a 2013 RHP with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Port Orange, FL who attends Father Lopez HS. Tall and slender projectable build, lots of room to get stronger. High leg lift delivery, drifts out, long stride, gets too far out front and loses leverage, back side doesn't get through on finish, long extended arm action, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped at 84 mph, gets some run on fastball at times. Sweeping slider with 10/4 shape. Around the plate with both pitches. Has the ability to improve with adjustments, needs to create leverage and downhill angle on his pitches, has the arm strength and projectability for the next level.

Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot, dips his head on pitch, deceptive balanced online delivery, has arm speed, works quick, fastball has arm side run, locates hits fastball well, likes to pitch to his arm side, curveball has 10-4 break on it, throws his change up at 75mph, competes on the mound, gets ahead. Starts out with a straight stance at the plate, short swing, uses all fields, line drive contact approach. Is a good student.

Sam Shields is a 2013 RHP with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Port Orange, FL who attends IMG Baseball Academy. Lean young build, minimal present strength. High leg kick delivery with full hip turn, gets loaded well, compact arm action, low 3/4's slot, some effort on release. Upper 70's fastball to 79 mph, good sink, nice fade and sink on change up from same release point, big sweeping curveball, good spin. Nice 3 pitch mix to develop, has some deception. Good student.
