Matthew Sharp is a 2012 RHP/OF with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Shreveport, LA who attends C E Byrd HS. Solid athletic build, good strength, fairly physically mature. Leg raise delivery, compact arm action, on line delivery, tight 3/4's release point. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, mostly straight with his 4-seamer. Turns over his 4-seamer at 84 mph, acts as a change up, spots well with good movement. Big sharp curveball, nice depth with good velocity, has the ability to spot it. Good command and feel for pitching. 6.91 runner, good athlete, shows raw strength at the plate with the ability to drive the ball occasionally. Good student.

Matthew Sharp is a 2012 OF/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Shreveport, LA who attends C E Byrd HS. Sharp has a very physical and strong athletic build. Strength throughout, but is especially evident in his chest and shoulders and doesn't effect his flexibility. Throws from an over the top arm slot, medium arm circle on backside and has arm speed. Gets arm side run on his fastball and spots it well on both sides of the plate. Works with a three pitch mix, including a 11-5 curveball and a changeup. He will vary his slot on the breaking ball and most often comes out with a slurve type break to it. Quick to the ball in the outfield and gets through his throws well, throws carry to and through the bag. Good bat speed at the plate with an aggressive approach, ball jumps hard off his bat, strength is evident at the plate, squares the ball up hard. Good student. Named to Top Prospect Team.

Matthew Sharp is a 2012 OF/RHP with a 6-1 188 lb. frame from Shreveport, LA who attends C E Byrd HS. Tall well proportioned athletic build, good strength. 7.27 runner, good outfield arm strength, balanced actions, long release. Right handed hitter, aggressive swing approach, stays short to the ball, some bat speed, handles the barrel well, gets weight out front to contact. Also pitches, slow paced delivery with limited lower 1/2 use, throws downhill. Low 80's fastball to 83 mph, slider showed good spin and late bite, lower release and shortened arm slot on CB, good spin but tips it badly, can spin the ball but needs instruction. Has potential on the mound. Very good student.
