Robert Van Woert is a 2006 RHP from Maine Endwell HS in Johnson City, NY, with a 6'5", 180 lb. frame. He has a very tall appearance on the mound and has the type of narrow frame that probably won't add too much more mass. Van Woert's arm works cleanly from a 3/4's arm slot with a bit of cross body action on release. His delivery is easy and balanced, with a high leg kick and good drive to the plate. Van Woert's best present pitch is his curveball, which has nice present velocity at 73 mph and a sharp downer break with good depth. Van Woert's change up is also a quality secondary pitch at 74 mph with good deception and life. His fastball topped out at 85 mph and scouts will find it easy to project plenty more velocity in the future. Van Woert is a polished pitcher who throws strikes with all his pitches and mixes speeds and locations with purpose. He has a big upside as he continues to add strength. Van Woert is also a solid student who has committed to University of Connecticut.

Van Woert is a tall and slender 6-5 junior pitcher from New York. He has wide shoulders and a nice projectable pitcher’s build. Van Woert throws from a high ¾’s release point that maintains good leverage to the plate. His arm action is longer than the norm but he maintains his looseness and develops some arm speed. Van Woert’s fastball was steady in the 81-83 mph and he showed that ability to move this pitch around the zone. His go to pitch was a 68-70 mph curveball that had good spin and that he used with confidence and command. Van Woert also threw some 73 mph change ups and a couple of 77 mph cutters off his fastball that could have been sliders. Overall he showed some polish to his pitching that we’ve also seen in games in the past. Van Woert also had a nice showcase with the bat. He has very good hand eye coordination and a simple swing that enabled him to get 3 hits in one of the games. Van Woert is a very good student as well.

Van Woert is on of the top 2006 northeast players as a RHP/1B from Johnson City, NY and has a great pitcher's body at 6'5"/190 pounds. He has a tall, slender frame with long limbs and gets good whip action from his arm. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with clean, fluid mechanics. His fastball showed good life at 82-85 mph and also used a 71 mph split finger with good sink. He throws a sharp slurve, with tight slider-like spin at 70 mph with 11-5 break. At 1B, he shows easy, fluid actions with an 80 mph arm across the infield. At the plate, he projects big power with a somewhat long swing. He is projectable player/pitcher with well above average tools. Robert is a very good student.

Robert Van Woert is a 6'5" right handed pitcher from New York and a member of the Class of 2006. He has the lean, wiry type of pitcher’s body that scouts are looking for when they go looking for projectable pitchers. Van Woert has a slow, deliberate delivery and a short arm circle in back. He pitches aggressively with his fastball and was generally 80-82 mph with good sinking action. Van Woert got progressively stronger after an early case of the jitters and ended up retiring the last 10 hitters he faced in a four inning outing, including five strikeouts. He showed good polish and pitching knowledge in his locations and mixed in a 69 mph curveball and a 71 mph change up at good points in counts. Van Woert looks like a good athlete for his size, too, which helps his projection. He had a very strong batting practice, showing a leveraged swing with good bat speed, and ran well for his age and size. Keep an eye on him for future velocity gains. He really projects! Robert is a good student.

Robert is an "06" RHP/INF from NY. At 6'5/187 he has that big league pitchers look to him. He is lean and wiry and will end up being a very big man. He showed some skills in the field and hits very well with power potential. On the mound he threw 82 mph, but there's much more than that in him. He has a fast arm and loose actions. He has sound mechanics, but maybe throws with a bit too much effort. His breaking ball is very promising and he shows a good feel for the change. Only an "06" he could easily develop into a nice draft pick by the time he graduates. Robert is also a very good student.
