John Paul Crawford is a 2013 SS/RHP with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Lakewood, CA who attends Lakewood HS. Lean loose athletic body, some developing strength. 6.77 runner, quick feet defensively, very athletic and balanced actions, extremely soft and sure hands, quick release with very good arm strength, top level defensive tools and skills. Left handed hitter, very open stance, gets to front side and gets barrel out, smooth swing, handles the barrel very well, consistent hard contact, can drive the gaps. Also pitched, slow paced delivery, loose arm with easy velocity, on line repeatable delivery, mostly fastballs, touched 91 mph. Very projectable athlete who does everything on the field effortlessly, will be scary good if he gains strength while maintaining athletic looseness. Pure shortstop who can hit. Verbal commitment to Southern California.

John Paul Crawford is a 2013 SS/OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Lakewood, CA who attends Lakewood HS. Excellent athletic build, loose and projectable with some present strength. Very good hitting mechanics, strong hands, hits balanced and under control, line drive plane but can turn and lift his pitch, ball comes off the barrel hard. Easy defensive actions both in infield and outfield, accurate arm with arm strength, long release, athletic double play turns. Consistent 4.5 runner from the left side, may end up at a corner as he gets bigger. Also pitched, 3/4's release, simple delivery, threw strikes up to 87 mph, solid spin on curveball.

Quick twitch athlete with quick actions all around and loose strength. Showed polished hitting mechanics with a short fluid swing with good extension out front, projects to be plus hitter in near future. Hitting tools played well against live pitching, showing a good feel for the strike zone and the ability to fight off tough pitches. Showed well in Top Prospect game. Showed quick feet defensively, actions lack polish at present, solid hands and a good throwing arm that projects well. Very interesting prospect to follow. Named to Top Prospect Team.
