Mike Lubanski is a 2009 C/3B/OF with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Collegeville, PA who attends Malvern Prep. He has a strong, well toned build that should continue to get stronger in the future. Lubanski is a polished hitter who hits the ball hard virtually every time up. He hits from a tall, calm approach and has easy bat speed while hitting under control. Lubanski has some loft in his swing and projects plenty of power down the road. He knows how to hit and has the tools to do it. Defensively, Lubanski has made steady strides behind the plate with his receiving, which he has only been doing full time for about a year. He stays compact and quiet behind the plate and has very good fundamentals. Lubanski has plenty of arm strength for the position and threw 76 mph in drills with a best pop time of 1.95. His athletic ability is underrated; he ran 7.31 on a slow track and showed plus base running instincts and aggressiveness. Lubanski is a plus make up player like his brother, Chris, he's going to max out his physical potential and play the game with a passion. He is also a very good student.

He has a line drive swing plane with good bat speed for his age. He has good gap power ability right now and will only get stronger as he matures. He ran a 5.38 home to first. Mike is a very young (09) 3B/1B/C from PA. He is the younger brother of Kansas City Royals 1st rounder Chris Lubanski. We remember the very first time we saw Chris and he was a speed guy with lots of potential. Mike is a different type player who shows good athletic ability and outstanding hitting skills. He has nice hands and good body control on defense. It's really too early to evaluate him defensively. However, the bat stands out in a big way. Mike swings the bat more like a college player than a young 7th grade student. He has a nice wide pro set up with a line drive swing plane. As he grows older he'll probably add some loft to this stroke. He creates very good bat speed and already shows some gap power. He could be just a little pull conscious, but that's nit-picking. Lots of upside with young Mike. It will be fun following him.
