Matt Harvey is a 2007 RHP from Fitch HS in Mystic, Connecticut, with a 6'4"/195 pound frame. Tall lanky body, low 3/4 arm slot, loose lively arm, ball jumps out of hand, works downhill, late life on FB, topped out at 92, hard 12-6 CB, great action on CH, 3 plus pitches, good mound presence, smooth and effortless, big time prospect.

Matt Harvey is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Fitch HS, residing in Mystic, CT. Harvey has the type of body that you might expect to see on one of the nation's top pitching prospects. He is long, lanky, rangy and athletic, with fluid, easy movements and good body control. He was listed at 6'4" 195 lbs. and that frame can be expected to continue to develop strength and power. Harvey burst onto the scene in Jupiter last November and shot up the rankings. In Fayetteville he did not disappoint and was ranked #6 among PG National Top 85 pitchers, with basically the top guys all being interchangeable when it comes to ranking them, they are all very good. Harvey has very little trouble producing power stuff... power stuff with feel. He pitches from an over the top slot with a long and easy arm action, and very good arm speed. He maintains such good rhythm in his delivery and should just continue to gain velocity, simply by getting stronger. He will not have to exert any more effort to get it out and that smooth delivery is such an asset. Harvey can pour his easy 91-95 fastball downhill and dominate in the bottom of the zone. His two seamer has a lot of arm side life, without sacrificing much in velocity. Harvey's 73-75 mph curveball has good spin and depth and he throws it with command. His 80-81 mph slider is also a quality offering. His breaking stuff, in particular his curveball has a chance to be a very good out pitch. Harvey showed a usable straight change-up (80-81 mph) that he kept down in the zone. All his stuff is good and it comes out of his hand easily. Harvey is a high round prospect and do not be surprised if sometime in mid-May you read reports of him touching 96 or 97. His combination of present day stuff, pitchability, and future projectability makes Harvey one of the elite prospects in the nation.
