Mark Serna is a 2007 LHP/OF with a 5'8'', 170 lb. frame from Beaumont, TX, who attends West Brook HS. Mark has an average build and is a solid two-way player. At the plate Mark has a very aggressive approach where he drives the ball all over the field. His approach could be changed a little bit, but his results are so strong there really is no need. He has good bat speed and can really turn a ball around easily. In the outfield Mark has smooth actions and solid arm strength. He might be best suited for left field. On the mound Mark throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed. Mark's fastball really gets on hitters well with nice life and hitters have a tough time picking the ball up. His best pitch is a very sharp slider that has very tight spin and life. Mark is a solid two-way player that should attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs.

Mark Serna is a 5'7" 180 pound 2007 left handed pitcher and outfielder from West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a solid build with very good strength. Mark pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot and has good mound presence and poise. He likes to throw inside and has good command of his pitches. He has a good makeup and a very aggressive pitching style. His fastball has plus run at 86 mph. He throws a hard breaking slider at 78 mph that is a quality pitch. He also fields his position very well who has solid mechanics. Serna lit up the guns by throwing 87 mph from the outfield during the workout. He sets his body up well to field and moves well to the ball. At the plate, he showed good bat speed and stays back very well while waiting for his pitch. The ball jumped off the bat very well and he showed good gap to gap power. Mark is a big time prospect who has plus stuff on the mound.

Mark Serna is a 5'7" athlete in the 2007 class from Beaumont, Texas, with very advanced baseball skills for his age. He’s a backwards player who throws left handed but hits right handed. Serna shows skills that with normal development will make him a two way player at the next level. On the mound, he throws from a full delivery that provides deception and hides the ball well. Serna’s fastball was 80-82 mph with good life in the strike zone. We’ve seen him pitch at 82-84 mph in WWBA tournaments for seven innings. Serna’s out pitch is a 72 mph slider that has sharp biting action and plenty enough break to backdoor right handed hitters. Serna showed very good defensive skills in the outfield. His arm strength is very good and runs very aggressive, sound routes to fly balls. At the plate, Serna showed good line drive power and some hand strength with wood. He’s a front foot hitter who commits his body early, but keeps the bat back and drives the ball to the middle of the field.
