Keith Weinkofsky is a 2007 right hand hitting catcher from Ocean Township HS, residing in Oakhurst, NJ. He has a big, strong, mature body type on his thick 6'3" 225 lb. frame. Weinkofsky certainly grabs your attention with his physical presence. He also showed some ability and was ranked #95 among PG National Top 100 position players. Weinkofsky hits from an open stance and stays open during his swing. He has a short finish to that swing and does have some power. For the most part he stayed inside the ball and appeared more concerned with being short to the ball, focusing on making hard contact than getting extension and letting his big arms free. In his zone he does have power, which would be on the inner half where he can jerk the ball. He looked like the type of hitter that is a good high ball hitter and at times he appeared very close to putting it all together. Weinkofsky did a nice job of keeping his hands back and in time should provide some pop, with low strikeout numbers and a decent average. One thing he is not is a greedy hitter. Behind the plate he showed himself to be a good receiver. Weinkofsky presents a big target to throw to, which he also would at 1st base. His arm was accurate and his pop times are approaching average. His raw arm strength is pretty solidly average. Weinkofsky ran 4.67 home/1st with a 7.42 60 yard time. He is a big and physical catcher with a chance to hit for some power and that will get him plenty of looks from D1 programs and possibly some area scout attention.

Keith Weinkofsky is a 2007 C/1B/3B from Ocean Township HS in Oakhurst, NJ, with a 6'3'', 235 lb. frame. He's plus, plus strong with well distributed size throughout. Weinkofsky has surprising quickness for his size. He has solid arm strength behind the plate with a low release angle and recorded a best pop time of 1.96. We've also seen Weinkofsky play corner infield positions in the past and he shows some ability there as well. Weinkofsky's tool is his bat, though, specifically his power potential. He has an easy, tension free swing with bat speed and lift. The ball comes off his bat hard and stays in the air a long time when he hits it. Weinkofsky's swing can get long when he's trying to hard to hit the ball out of the park like most power hitters but he's so strong that he doesn't need to swing hard to get the desired results. When he stays short and to the ball he can reach the fences in any part of the ball park. Weinkofsky has a huge upside when he gains confidence in his stroke and his abilities and should be a premium, middle of the order run producer at the next level. He's a top level follow.

Wienkofsky is a 6-3, 240 lb 2007 catcher from New Jersey with a thick mature build. Wienkofsky is a big bodied strong kid with athletic ability. Wienkofsky moves well behind the plate and his athletic ability shows with his 2.05 pop time. Wienkofsky showed some arm strength with 76 mph on throws to second base and threw 83 from the mound. He has good bat speed with a nice short swing path. The ball really jumps off his bat due to the quickness of his swing and his body strength. Power potential is definitely in this kid. On the mound, Wienkofsky showed real good command of his pitches and showed us a nice slider. His fastball gets some arm side run at 83 mph.
