Jon Karcich is a 2006 third baseman/middle infielder from Bekmont, CA with an athletic muscular build at 6-1, 185 lbs. He ran the 60 in 7.35 and threw 75 mph during infield drills. Karcich's velocity in drills is a bit deceptive as he has a very quick release on his throws and doesn't try to gun it across the infield. His hands and feet worked well. Karcich hits from an upright stance with low hands that have good strength and quickness. He showed good game bat speed and the potential to hit with some power in the future. Karcich was playing with a leg injury so his running times and overall performance should be taken with some caution. Karcich impressed us as a hustling type of player with an aggressive approach, so his injury might have affected him more than most, but he wasn't going to back down.

Jon Karcich is a 2006 third baseman/middle infielder from Belmont, California, with a large frame and strong build with long arms and legs. Karcich comes to play, and is very aggressive on defense and looks like he wants the ball hit to him on every pitch. We really liked his energy and style of his game. He showed good hands with balanced feet that would allow him to play many other positions. He has an idea of what to do at shortstop, but third base will be his best position as he gets older. Karcich has a projectable body that looks like he will get even stronger without being restrictive. Karcich has a few years to go before he maxes out, and should be an offensive threat at present level, as well as at the next level. He's an 06 to watch closely.
