John Ryan Murphy is a 2009 C/3B with a 5'10", 170 lb frame from Bradenton, FL who attends The Pendleton School. Named to Top Prospect Team. John Ryan has an athletic build with room to fill out and showed very good raw tools for a catcher. At the plate John Ryan has a good approach with very good balance and leverage in his swing to go along with plus bat speed. He shows strong hands that help the ball jump off his bat from gap to gap. Behind the plate John Ryan has very good throwing skills where he has very good arm strength to go along with a good transfer. His receiving could use a little work, but he has the tools to be a very solid college catcher. John Ryan is a solid student that should attract the attention of many high-level college programs.
