Andrew Cobb is a 2007 OF/RHP from Lake Highland HS in Apopka, FL with a 6'0", 180 lb. frame. Andrew has an athletic build and has shown plus arm strength and speed in the past. At the plate Andrew hits from a spread open stance that produces good raw bat speed. Andrew tends to lunge at the ball and gets off balance. He would drive the ball much more consistently if he changed his approach at the plate. In the outfield Andrew shows good range and solid arm strength with good carry. We have seen him throw over 90 and run under 6.7 in the past from the outfield. He did not run the 60-yard dash at the event so we think he could have been hurt a little. On the mound Andrew throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good life on all of his pitches. He has a smooth delivery with good command of all his pitches. Andrew's numbers weren't quite as eye-popping like earlier this summer, but we know the potential is still there. Andrew is a high-level Division I prospect.

Andrew Cobb is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Lake Highland HS, residing in Apopka, FL. Cobb has a broad, strong, powerful build on his 6'0" 180 lb. frame. His bat showed up the best at PG National. At the plate he has a very nice set-up and just looks like he can hit. His lower body base is very good for hitting. He seemed to keep his hands close to his body, though it seemed that extension of his hands would be an important thing for him. There was some length in his swing and with his good bat speed he does have power. That power did show up when he got extended. Maybe he has his hands close to his body trying to be short to the ball in an event when there were so many hard throwers. Understandable if that was the case. The more aggressive he was, the more it looked like he would hit. Cobb did not participate in the defensive workout. He ran 4.59 home/1st and posted a laser timed 6.98 60 yard dash. His bat is a D1 type bat and with metal in his hands he is going to do some damage.

Andrew Cobb is a 2007 OF with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from Apopka FL, who attends Lake Highland HS. He looks more like 6-1, 190 lbs and has a strong, mature build. Cobb has one of the best combinations of running and throwing ability of any prospect in the 2007 class, running 6.62 and throwing 92 mph from the oufield. Cobb gets excellent carry on his throws from a short, quick, balanced release. How high Cobb plays is going to be dependent on his bat. He generates very good bat speed but does so with effort and ends up with a grooved swing that could use more balance. Cobb also hits from a pre-load approach that doesn't leave him with much trigger/coil and adversely effects his timing. The raw tools are there for Cobb to be a productive hitter and the ball jumps off his bat on contact; he just doesn't have the fundamentals and smoothness in place yet. When that comes together, Cobb can be a very high ceiling talent. Cobb also pitched and while his arm strength didn't transfer directly from the outfield, he still threw 84 mph with a quick arm action and good command of the strike zone. Cobb's change up is a pretty advanced pitch at 72 mph but he doesn't have much feel for a curveball yet. Cobb is an excellent student who has his eyes on some very good national level academic schools.

Andrew Cobb is a 6' 180 pound 2007 outfielder and right handed pitcher from Lake Highland High School in Apopka, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a strong athletic body that looks like he can add more muscle. Andrew showed a strong arm from the outfield by throwing 85 mph during the workout. He has pro level carry on his throws and is very balanced with not much effort. He is very smooth and glides to the ball. Cobb drives the ball to all fields and makes solid hard contact. He has good bat speed and has the ability to lift the ball with power. He keeps his hands back very well on off speed pitches as well. He also showed his plus speed by running a 6.87 60 during the workout. Andrew is a top prospect who continues to improve.

Andrew Cobb -- Cobb is a freshman outfielder from Florida with a very projectable body that has good strength to it. Cobb has very good tools now that should continue to grow even better. His 60 time on the soft Fort Myers turf was outstanding for a freshman and Cobb ran 4.31 to first base on a ground ball and looks like a solid average big league runner. Cobb’s arm strength from the outfield was very outstanding for a freshman and should be above big league standards very quickly. Cobb hits from a balanced stance but jumps out to his front side very quickly. This seems to work for him because his hands are strong and he has a short, quick stroke that wears out the right centerfield gap. He may have to adjust his approach as the pitcher’s speed up but the important thing is that he showed quick hands and a nice swing with some power potential. Andrew is a very good student with a big future in baseball.
