James Foster is a 2008 OF/P with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Trinity Christian Academy. He has a medium build with some present strength. Foster ran the 60 in 7.11 hand timed on a slow track and has good body life and speed. Foster has very sound hitting mechanics and looks like he's been very well coached. He hits from a spread stance with a simple, quick swing and stays inside the ball well. He makes solid pull and mid field contact and looks like a high average type hitter. More strength will enable him to get the ball up the gaps. Foster has the same sort of actions in the outfield; he's fundamentally sound, works through balls well and makes strong, accurate throws. Foster also took a turn on the mound; he was 80-83 mph with a short, quick arm action and a 70 mph curveball. He's a solid all around player with skills, nothing stands out as plus but everything works and he knows how to play. Foster is also a very good student.
