Eric Smith is a 2009 SS/C/3B with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from La Canada, CA who attends La Canada. Smith has a medium sized frame with a thin lean build. He has a taller looking lanky body and has a projectable build. Defensively, Smith has quick transfers with a quick release. He has nice hands with solid actions. He plays defense at a quick speed and sacrifices some accuracy with such a quick release. At the plate, Smith has a narrow stance and starts tall in the box. He has an inside out stroke and has a rotational swing. Smith generates bat speed and has some opposite field pop. He hits the baseball where it's pitched and really hustles out of the box. Smith is also a very good student.

Eric Smith is a 2009 MIF/3B/OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from La Canada, CA who attends La Canada HS. He has a lean athletic body type that is a good infielder's body. Smith is a talented baseball player whose tools grade well across the board as a major D1 prospect. Someday he will also get pro interest. Smith has good bat speed with hands that work really well. He is a line drive hitter with an easy swing that keeps his the barrel behind his hands. Smith has a whole field approach and looks like he will hit for high average in college. Defensively he showed feel for the game in addition to having good ability. Smith has a quick release to go with a solid arm. He has good hands and feet as well. As he continues to get stronger, Smith's game will continue to evolve. He has a chance to be one of the better middle infielders in California in the '09 class.
