Nicholas Crucet is a 2009 SS/3B/P with a 5'8'', 155 lb. frame from Weston FL, who attends Cypress Bay HS. He has a smaller athletic build but deceptive strength. Crucet has very good quickness and speed (6.98 in the 60) and has light feet and good range in the field. He gets in position to field the ball, works through it and has good hands, a quick release and some arm strength. Depending on how he develops physically and with his arm strength he might end up at second base but his actions enable him to play SS as well. Offensively, Crucet has solid bat speed for his age/size and a nice balanced swing. He makes line drive contact to all fields and squares up on the ball well. He hits inside the ball most of the time. Crucet has good upside with the bat as he gets stronger and looks like he knows how to hit. He also pitched a bit, topping out at 72 mph with is fastball but he was just filling innings. Crucet looks like a nice young player and should be followed. He is also an outstanding student.
