Thomas Barnhart is a 2027 C/3B, OF with a 5-9 159 lb. frame from West Union, OH who attends Manchester. Primary catcher with an athletic build and medium sized frame. Starts out from the crouch with open feet. Gains some ground through the plate moving forward aggressively. Throws from a lower slot and was accurate to the bag with a ton of strength behind his throws. Pops up quickly out of the crouch. Release and transfer get long, but the arm strength plays and ability to gain ground and throw with strength will play. Was 82 from behind the dish and had a 2.00 pop time. Also played infield with athletic feet. Has a ton of arm speed and strength but profiles better on the corner. Was up to 90 from across the diamond showing off the arm talent. Also roamed the outfield getting up to 92 from there. Has quick choppy feet with a quick arm. Uses a big crow hop to make strong accurate throws. Was up to 92 from the outfield. Also ran a 7.49 sixty. Also pitched throwing from a high 3/4 slot with quick arm action coming half circle. Works with a quick and upbeat tempo and is quick to the plate. Uses a high leg raise to chest and coils back to plate causing some deception in the delivery hiding the ball well. Fastball had nice late ride through the zone ramping up to 83 and getting in on hitters quick. Curve was sharp with depth and varied in shape between 10-4 and 11-5. Could locate and drop it in for strikes. Flashed a change once as well that he could kill spin on. Right-handed hitter with a widespread out base and slightly open feet. High handset gets deep with the load. Barrel accelerates through the zone well and has plenty of bat speed. Could impact it hard up the middle or to pull when on the barrel. Good student.
