Drew Geissinger is a 6'2" 180 pound 2007 third baseman and middle infielder from North Hunterdon High School in Asbury, New Jersey. He has an angular projectable frame with good athleticism. At the plate, he has a quiet set up with a tall open stance. He doesn’t use much of a load or stride and stays back very well on off speed pitches. Drew is a gap to gap hitter who makes solid line drive contact. He is very balanced in his swing and keeps his strong hands inside the ball. He generates good bat speed and likes the ball down in the zone where he can drop the head of the bat on it. Geissinger has good arm strength as well. He threw 81 mph across the infield during the workout. His throws were accurate with good carry. With his soft smooth hands, he is very solid in the field. He also showed good base running instincts by getting an excellent jump on a stolen base during the game. Drew is a very aggressive hitter with good fielding skills and is also a very good student with a 3.75 gpa.

Geissinger is a 6-1 sophomore infielder from Georgia with a very nice projectable baseball body. We’re thinking that he might have gone through a growth spurt lately because his primary position (second base) and his hitting style aren’t suited for his actions and tall, lanky build. Geissinger played some third base in Fort Myers and this looks like his natural position. He has very solid arm strength for a 2007 grad (79 mph) with a long, flowing arm action that projects well. Geissinger’s hands work well and he could become a very good defender with time. Geissinger hits from a no stride, limited load approach that emphasizes staying short to the ball like a smaller player. With Geissinger’s build, this just limits his extension and his ability to develop power. As he develops strength, Geissinger should see himself generating more bat speed and learning how to drive the ball. He’s an interesting looking athlete who should be followed. Geissinger is also a good student.
