Jack Mooday is a 2023 C/3B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Los Alamos, NM who attends Los Alamos. Medium, square shouldered frame with long limbs and some present strength with additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, square set up behind the plate with a deeper crouch, receives the ball out front, will continue to refine transfer skills, gets tall on release, shorter arm action with a tight release, can implement additional lower half/footwork into release. Similar short release on throws across the diamond in the infield, intent on release, takes short steps on the approach to the baseball, fields the ball out front, looks to arm drop slot when needed going to glove side. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even base and still hand set, utilizes a long stride moving into contact for timing. Long swing path with tight hands coming through the zone, can get additional extension to further unlock more strength. Best contact to the middle of the field when working on a linear path while showing the ability to generate some backspin, ball comes off nicely when on time. Excellent student.
