Danny Barefield is a 2008 RHP/3B with a 6'3'', 208 lb. frame from Calera AL, who attends Calera. Named to Top Prospect Team. Barefield has a big strong body with an athletic build. Barefield pitches from an over the top arm slot and uses an easy arm action. He uses a compact simple delivery and repeats it fairly easily. Barefield maintains good balance through his delivery and keeps his head nice and still on the target through balance point. He throws a slider with tilt on it and also throws a curveball on an 11/5 plane. Barefield knows how to pitch and adds and subtracts velocity well to keep hitters off balance. At the plate, Barefield starts with a medium width base and uses a no stride approach. He has raw power with more power potenial in there. He uses a power hitter's approach with lift in his swing and an all or nothing mentality. Barefield is an excellent student.
