2007 Hawaii Showcase Tournament
Reece Alnas is a 2007 OF/UT with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Hilo HI, who attends Kamehameha-Keaau HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Alnas has a lean, athletic body and some quick twitch actions. He is not big but does have some physical projection. Alnas has a chance to be an impact hitter at the college level. He is a line drive hitter with good bat speed and a gap to gap approach, with good plate coverage. His trigger works really well and he has a "hit first" mentality. Alnas also has some projectable power. Additionally, he is a really heady base runner, with good speed. Defensively Alnas has really good tools. His arm is quite strong (86 mph from the outfield) and he couples that by going aggressively to the ball and having a plus release. He could play in centerfield or right field. Alnas also pitches, with a 77-79 mph fastball that has good run and a solid 69 mph curveball that he can "hook" into the zone with some depth. The more extension he can gain, the better his stuff will be. His outfield arm strength would indicate that with some more time on the mound he could jump into the mid-upper 80s at some point in the future. Alnas is a strong student and very good college baseball prospect.
