Dallas Long is a 2006 LHP/1B/OF from Santa Fe Catholic HS in Auburndale, FL, with a 6'1", 175 lb. frame. Long has good lower half strength with sloping shoulders and has athletic actions. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm circle on the back side and has a high extended release point. Occasionally he gets some hand side movement on his fastball that topped out at 79 mph, while working between 76-79 mph. Long can spin the curveball at 67 mph, and he also mixes in a change up at 71 mph. Offensively he is a left handed hitter who hits with a low hand set. He has a very simple swing with a line drive swing path, and makes consistent contact from gap to gap. Long has upside both on the mound and at the plate. He is also a very good student.

Long is a 6-0 left handed first baseman/outfielder from Florida. He has a strong lower half and a more slender upper half. Long ran the 60 7.57 and went through drills as an outfielder, throwing 76 mph. Long hits from a balanced stance with a no load, no stride approach. He has some bat speed but tends to pull off and hit around the ball and wore out the second baseman at the Showcase. Long has the chance to improve quickly as a hitter as he has plenty of natural tools and strength. Long also pitched a couple of innings, showing a 78-79 mph fastball and 70 mph change up. Long has a high leg kick and high ¾’s release point that together hamper his ability to throw strikes. Long is a good student.
