C-RHP Craig Cameron: Cameron is a senior catcher from Iowa and a first team All-State player as a junior. He’s a big, strong kid with good all around athletic ability. Cameron has a big load at the plate and likes the ball out away from him where he can get his arms extended. He makes good consistent contact and has shown us power up the middle and to right centerfield frequently this spring. He has good hands and quickness behind the plate and works with pitchers well. He doesn’t always show his true arm strength throwing the ball, maybe because he’s trying to be too quick and short. The arm strength is there, though. Cameron also took a regular turn on the mound during the spring and threw at the Showcase. His fastball was usually in the 78-81 mph range and touched 83 mph and he would throw a big breaking 64 mph curveball. He did a good job of throwing strikes with a simple step and throw delivery and might show more velocity with more use of his body in his windup.

Craig Cameron: Cameron is a 6'2/207 strong and physically well developed senior catcher from Iowa. Measured on the laser device, Cameron’s raw bat speed was one of the best at the Showcase and he definitely has the strength to hit with some power. Cameron moves well behind the plate for a big kid and has a nice, compact arm stroke and enough arm strength to throw out runners at the college level. Cameron also took a turn on the mound and topped out at 84 mph on his fast ball from a high ¾’s release point. His curveball had good velocity at 71-74 mph with a rolling, early break. Craig has some very interesting tools and though he has a big strong body he could tone up just a bit. His best years are ahead of him. He is a very good student.
