2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Kluber is a very interesting right-hander with a high 80's heater and pitchability that projects in a big way! He has a plus 6 foot 4, 200 pound body with power now and potential for even more. He uses a three quarter arm slot with his fast arm and strong lower half drive toward the plate. His motion is quick out of his balance point and stuff is all hard and sharp. The fastball was 85-87 and we have seen him up to 90 or better before. The change-up looked very deceptive with his fast arm traveling 76 mph and the curve was 67-69 with a good breaking path and sharp bite. Two fringe Major League pitches and a MLB heater will get lots of attention. He has a great body to build on and is a good package for next year's draft. His bat is also very impressive with plus raw power. Corey is an excellent student.
