Travis Blackburn is a 2007 RHP/OF/3B with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Bethlehem GA, who attends Dacula HS. He has a very good athletic body with nice present strength. Blackburn showed prospect tools as both a right handed pitcher and as an outfielder. On the mound, Blackburn has a short, compact arm stroke with an over the top release point. He doesn't use much lower half now in his delivery, which could open up more velocity for him. Blackburn's fastball was steady at 80-82 mph. His best pitch was a 74 mph split change that had very good tumbling action. He also threw a 72 mph curveball. Blackburn showed smooth and easy actions in the outfield defensively. He runs a 7.11 60 and threw 85 mph during drills with nice carry. He has the same smoothness to his swing. Blackburn is short to the ball and stays inside and behind it like a mature hitter. He flashed some impressive power that should only improve. Overall, we'd have to say that Blackburn shows more potential in the outfield right now, where all his raw tools are college level. He could come on nicely over the next few years considering his size and strength and variety of tools. Nice follow.
