Artie Lopez is a 2009 C/1B with a 6'0'', 230 lb. frame from Oxnard, CA who attends Santa Clara HS. He has a large frame and a heavy-set body but underneath it all Lopez also has some athleticism. He is going to have to get in better physical condition to draw interest from college programs, but when he does, the skill set will be there. He is a switch-hitter with good hands and a nice hitting approach. He has some present day strength and a hint of some feel with the bat. Lopez competes well within his present day ability level but seemed to tire fairly quickly. His pop times were consistently around the 2.30 range and in the field he showed some feel around the bag at 1st base. He seemed to enjoy playing.

Artie Lopez is a 2009 C/1B with a 6'0'', 230 lb. frame from Oxnard, California, who attends Santa Clara High School. Lopez is a young player with strength in his body. Defensively he has position flexibility being able to catch and play first base. He adjusts well behind the plate, and he works hard defensively. Lopez hand solid hands at first base. At the plate he is a switch hitter with strength in his swing from both side. There is a lift in his swing as Lopez tries to drive the ball deep. He gets leverage at the point of contact producing raw power. He is a patient hitter with a good knowledge of the strike zone. Lopez shows bat speed through the zone. He dives into the ball, but he keeps his hands inside with the ability to hit to all fields. His bat plays, and he is a good student as well.

Artie Lopez is a 2009 C/1B/3B with a 6'0'', 200 lb. frame from Oxnard, CA, who attends Santa Clara HS. Large frame with present strength. Defensively he throws well with accuracy and made good throws during game action. Lopez has a quick release with projection behind the plate. Offensively he is a switch hitter who hits from a straight away stance with a flexed knee. He loads his hands well and takes an aggressive line drive swing. Lopez is short to the ball with a slight lift in his swing from the left side. There is strength and power in his swing with projectable power. Shows patience and doesn't swing and bad pitches. Lopez is a hustle player who plays the game hard and with passion. He will get the most out of his abilities and seems to be a very determined player. He is also a good student.
