Mills is a 6-1, 180 lb wiry loose right handed pitcher from Florida who showed good athletic ability in the workouts, throwing 88 mph from the outfield and running a 7.16 in the 60, probably a sub 7.00 time on a dry track. He has a quick, loose arm action on the mound and the ball leaves his hand easily. Mills’ mechanics are pretty solid; he has a good balance point but tends to open up a bit early. His fastball was 83-85 mph and he showed the ability to spot the ball on the inside half of the plate. Mills also threw a 68-71 mph curveball that had good spin and bite to it. Overall, he’s a young pitcher with good athletic ability who should become a very solid DI level pitcher. He is athletic enough to play a position as well.
