Joel Delorit is a 2007 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Sturgeon Bay WI, who attends Southern Door HS. He has a medium frame that has started to add some strength. Delorit has an athletic delivery with good balance and nice rhythm and pace to it. He repeats his mechanics and release point well. Delorit's fastball is 81-83 consistently and he gets excellent sinking and running action in away from right handed hitters. When he learns more about his fastball and is to pitching to higher level hitters he should learn to back door RHH's on the inside corner with this kind of movment. Delorit's curveball is also a nice pitch. It has a big, wide break to it and is pretty sharp. He uses his curveball mostly against left handed hitters. His 73 mph change up is also a pretty good pitch that he could use more and with his fluid delivery and release, there is no reason he couldn't learn a slider, perhaps to use to RHH's. Delorit has a good idea how to pitch now, keeps the ball low and gets mostly ground balls and strike outs. He is also a good athlete who swings the bat pretty well, fields his position and runs. Delorit is an excellent student who should develop into a successful pitcher at the college level.

Joel Delorit is a 2007 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Sturgeon Bay WI, who attends Southern Door HS. He has a slender athletic build that makes him look smaller than his listed size and is very projectable, with a high waist and long arms. Delorit throws from a balanced leg lift delivery and sometimes is a bit slow coming through with his lower half. His arm and upper body come through fine and Delorit has a very nice and loose arm action and extended 3/4's release point. There isn't anything with his arm action that you would want to touch as a pitching coach. Delorit warmed up at 81-83 mph on his fastball but seemed to back off a bit against hitters and pitched at 79 mph mostly. He cuts his fastball at times and also looked like he would turn over a 2-seamer at 77 mph. There is definitely more in Delorit's arm, mid 80's at least. His breaking ball is a very sharp 69-71 curveball that is a nice pitch that will get him plenty of swings and misses in the future. He could throw it more than he did during this outing. Delorit also throws a developing change up at 69 mph. He showed his athletic ability in the batter's box with a aggressive swing and good bat speed. Delorit has good rhythm at the plate and a power approach. He does a good job of keeping his hands inside the ball. Overall, Delorit is a very good looking young left hander with a high ceiling. He's a little raw in his approach right now but could improve and improve quickly with more repetitions. Follow Closely! Delorit is also an excellent student.
