Dan Welch is a 2007 C/IF with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Sidney, BC, who attends Lambrick Park School. Welch has a tall, large frame with projection. Defensively he is very quick behind the plate and steps well to second base on his throws. On the infield he has solid 3B actions with accurate and online throws. At the plate he is a switch hitter who hits from an open stance with a slight crouch. He loads his hands well, and has plus bat speed through the hitting zone. Welch has a balanced swing with a quick line drive swing plane from both sides. He shows a little more power from the right side. Welch uses the whole field from both sides and looks like a hitter who will hit for average at the next level with projectable power. Welch is good on the bases with quickness and instincts, and he is a good student as well.

Dan Welch is a 2007 C/IF from Lambrick Paru HS, residing in Signey, British Columbia, with a 6'1" 170 lb. frame. He has a strong build with a frame to carry more strength and size gains. It is a body that looks to be durable behind the plate. On offense Welch brings the attractive dimension of being a switch-hitter. From the right side he showed good bat speed and overall a solid swing. His approach and set-up to the ball were both good. Once his swing is underway, Welch got to good extension through contact. He displayed some balance in his swing and his hands do work. Possesses some present day power and more in the future. From the left side his bat was slower than from the right. He hit off his backside and was looking for power. His swing path was pretty flat and he does have some doubles-type power from the left side. On defense Welch has a package of abilities that are very close to being well-developed. He needs a bit more time and also needs to see better pitching on a more consistent basis. He also should work on his arm strength and to straighten out his throwing line. Welch's throws tailed into the bag though he was pretty accurate. As an infielder the ball exited his hand well and he showed decent hands and ok body control. He has a long release making 3B his most legitimate INF option. Follow Welch for his potential with the bat at the catcher position. Repetitions clearly will advance his skill set.
