Josh Gonzaga is a 5'10" 170 pound 2008 left handed pitcher and first baseman from Nova High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a short stocky build with good strength. Josh has sound mechanics including a good balance point and he repeats his delivery very well. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with gives his fastball good run and sink at 82 mph. He also threw a good change up at 70 mph and a curveball with tight 1/7 rotation at 69 mph. He worked both sides of the plate with all three pitches. Gonzaga showed a strong easy arm during the workout by throwing 80 mph from first base. He has smooth hands and footwork around the bag as well. Josh hits with an open narrow stance and has an inside out approach that is very aggressive but still balanced. He makes solid contact and is very consistent with his swing. He turns on the ball well with power and he crushed a few balls into left field. Josh is a solid two way prospect who is also a good student with a 3.0 gpa.
