Alex Barber is a 2017 LHP with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Granite Falls, NC who attends South Caldwell High School. Extra-large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.42 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher, closed landing, ability to change looks and holds, quick to plate, long arm action, long arm circle, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Limited lower half in drive to the plate with a closed landing. Fastball worked 72-76 mph with cut action. Also showed a 1/7 shaped curveball at 63 mph with depth and a slightly slowed arm. Changeup as well with developing feel for the pitch. Took batting practice as well, started with a wide base, medium hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Generated leverage through lower half and flashed barrel ability. Best contact worked pull side and up the middle with a line drive swing plane.
