Scanlon is a 5-11, 200 lb left handed hitting catcher from New Jersey. He ran the 60 in 8.06 and threw 70 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.12. Scanlon also has experience playing third and first base. Scanlon turned on some balls in batting practice and showed his strength and loft power potential. He was more an opposite field hitter during games but was able to show his strength going that direction also and hit a couple of balls well. He has a patient approach and good quickness to the ball and should continue to develop as a productive hitter. Scanlon is a very good student as well.

Brian is a thick, strong bodied catcher from Manalapan, NJ. Behind the plate Brian uses average receiving tools with an over the top arm action to produce a 66 mph throw. Brian's throws were all online but showed slight loft (2.35pop). He presents a good balanced target, with average HS transfers and foot work. With the bat Brian, a switch hitter, creates good barrel contact with a slight loft approach. He showed strong hands from the left side with good balance and hand load. Brian shows promise but needs to get quicker behind the plate, and develop more arm strength. He's only a sophomore and he already has good strength. He's a good student.
