Kevin Yonamine is a 2017 LHP/OF, 1B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends Northwood High School. Medium, athletic build with square shoulders and present strength to frame. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, simple and quick delivery on the mound with a slight hip turn at top, does a nice job of getting tall on the backside. Loose arm action through the back and works to a high three-quarters arm slot, generates extension out front and lands on line towards the plate with an upright finish. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, shows short running life when on top of ball and down in the zone, throws easy and able to miss bats with fastball life. Can induce contact early in the count, measure tempo and pace throughout delivery. Curveball showed tight rotation at 67 mph with short depth and 1-7 shape, maintains arm action and speed well on changeup showing short fading life to the arm side. Shows a line drive swing plane at the plate with a short path to the ball. High hand set and back elbow at start and close to body, upper body dominant swing, shows ability to turn on the ball as well as work the opposite field. Very good student.
