Defensively, Barzilli has a good set-up to the baseball and has good actions. He shows good versitility being able to play 3 infield spots well. He has good hands with some arm strength. Barzilli has a quick release and can make the flashy play. At the plate, Barzilli starts with a straight stance and a quiet approach in the box. He swings on a flat path and is short to the baseball. Barzilli has quick hands and generates bat speed. He gets good use out of his lower half and has some leverage at contact.

Julian Barzilli is a 2009 SS/3B with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Los Angeles CA, who attends Notre Dame. Barzilli has an athletic body with a good lean build. He has some present strength with a nice frame. Defensively, Barzilli has good defensive actions and is smooth to the ball. He has arm strength with carry on his throws. At the plate, Barzilli has a very poised approach at the plate and has a good idea of the strike zone. He uses his hands well in his swing and has a strong top hand in his swing. Barzilli has quick hands with bat speed. He has present gap to gap pop and is smooth through his swing. Barzilli makes consistent solid contact and hits lots of line drives. Good student.

Julian Barzilli is a 2009 SS/3B from Notre Dame HS, residing in Los Angeles, CA, with a 5'7" 150 lb. frame. Barzilli was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase, one of only two freshmen to earn that honor. He has a strong, compact, and athletic young body, built like a sturdy middle infielder. A right handed hitter, Barzilli has decent hand rhythm and decent bat speed that suggest he should be followed as a young (freshman) hitter. At this time of his development Barzilli has a pull side approach and some swing length that he will likely need to work out. His barrel does get into the zone and the chance to develop gap power exists. On defense Barzilli displayed soft hands with a long arm stroke that is pretty quick, suggesting that perhaps he could develop into a pitching prospect. Barzillio has decent body control and good raw ability. The fundamentals of the game will be taught to him as he moves along. Barzilli is close right now to developing into a strong college prospect. College programs should put him on their follow list for '09 prospects.
